There’s no doubt about it: Austin is one of the coolest cities in Texas and probably even one of the coolest cities in the US. Make your trip to Austin complete by using this Austin brewery map to guide you to some of the city’s finest breweries. As we like to say, when in Austin, hit the craft beer breweries!
Start at Live Oak Brewing Company
Start your day at noon sharp–the time Live Oak Brewing Company doors open. This brewery first opened in 1997 and uses what their website calls “an old-world style of brewing rarely found in America but practised extensively throughout central Europe.” The perfect first stop on our Austin brewery map!
Move on to Hops & Grain Brewing
If you care about the environment (and even if you don’t – but you should!), then Hops & Grain Brewing might become your new favorite brewery. This brewery takes sustainability and protecting the environment seriously so you can drink with a clear conscience–and they have great beer too. Cheers to that!
Hit up Blue Owl Brewing
Next up on our Austin brewery map is Blue Owl Brewing, famous for sour-mashing beers! If you like a fruity beer, we recommend Take note: Blue Owl opens at noon on weekends and 3pm on weekdays.
Time for Zilker Brewing Company & Taproom
This brewery finds inspiration for its brews in world travel, bringing some unique tastes to your glass. They pride themselves on offering beer that’s “always in balance, always complex, and always has a proper finish.” You won’t regret a stop at Zilker.
Drive to (512) Brewing Company
If your Austin brewery hopping falls on a Saturday, then you must stop by (512) Brewing Company where you’ll find some great organic malts. Any other day of the week, tough luck–these guys are closed. Follow the Austin brewery map to the next stop.
Last Stop: Independence Brewing Co.
It’s no secret that OU and UT have a bit of a friendly rivalry. Made especially for the Red River Showdown (aka the UT-OU football game), Independence Brewing Company’s Oklahoma Suks is the only way we could end our Austin brewery map. Open Thursday-Sunday only.
Taking home some bottles of Austin-made craft beer? Make sure you’ve got Pop the Top bottle opener to crack ’em open!
