When in Texas…drink good wine! Well, that may not be an official saying, but with these great Texas urban wineries there’s no reason it can’t be! From Dallas to Austin and beyond, we’ve found five amazingly great Texas urban wineries every wine lover should try.
The Austin Winery
Though temporarily closed until January 28, 2017, we couldn’t help but add Austin Winery to our list of top urban wineries in Texas. Owners Ross and Cooper have won a lot of hearts with their excellent hospitality, rich knowledge and of course, fabulous wines. The new Austin Winery is going to be much bigger and better. We can’t wait to see the new place!
Landon Winery is located in the pleasant, historic downtown McKinney. If you like fruity wines, grab a glass of peach wine and enjoy an afternoon on the patio! Dallasites, it’s worth escaping the city and revelling in a change of pace at this gem in McKinney on a weekend. Landon Winery is also a great venue for a party or special occasion.
The Infinite Monkey Theorum
Straight from the great state of Colorado, The Infinite Monkey Theorum found a new home in Austin. The Infinite Monkey Theorum is definitely doing its part to help “Keep Austin Weird.” And by weird we mean good. Come stop by this eclectic wine lover’s heaven and enjoy some back alley winemaking. And if there was any doubt, of course this place has wine & yoga evenings. This is hands down one of the Texas urban wineries we love the most!
Stray Grape has a lovely tasting room, great wines, and they even let you take a glass home. But what’s really unique about this place is that you can actually make your own wine at Stray Grape! You pick out the flavors and decide what kind of wine you want to make. The experts do the fermenting and then call you back 6-10 weeks later for the bottling and labelling process. Make your own label and walk away with 28 bottles of your own brand of wine. This is something any true wine lover must try!

Times Ten Cellars
This urban winery has a homey feel with different rooms that makes for a quaint environment. Their wine selection is great and the staff is incredibly friendly. Sip on a glass and enjoy a small plate, salad, or incredible dessert! Times Ten Cellar also has a nice patio where you can hang out when it’s warm. Times Ten Cellar also has a venue in Fort Worth. As far as Texas urban wineries go, Times Ten Cellars is a favorite times two.
