We’ve been seeing a lot more glamping weddings happening these days and we’re all about it! From cozy luxurious cabins in the middle of a lush forest to hip canvas teepees with cloud-like beds in the open desert, the glamping wedding movement has definitely caught on.
If you’re engaged and considering an adventurous glamping wedding, we want to make sure you have the most amazing time so we’ve putting together a list of 5 Must-Haves for your Big Day:
1. Power Generator
Ok this seems like a no brainer, right? But power is something we often take for granted until you’re in the middle of the desert or a forest with no electricity! A lot of the outdoor wedding venues do have some sort of electricity access and if they don’t, they typically allow couples to rent a generator. When possible, we like to set up some solar powered phone charging stations for guests to use. Going completely solar is a great option, but it is definitely a lot pricier than a generator. I know you might be thinking, “Well we won’t even have a DJ or anything that really needs to be plugged in, so do we still need power?”. The answer is yes. The photographer will need to charge his/her camera battery, guests will want to style their hair before the ceremony, caterers will need some to cook the food and for safety reasons, you’ll need it to power up all the lights.
2. Snacks and Spa Station
If your guests are used to a more traditional “hotel wedding” where simple things like shampoo and soap are waiting for them in their room, it’s always nice to plan ahead and provide them with some basic spa items. Small bottles of shampoo and conditioner, little soaps. Q-tips, sunscreen, lip balm and hair ties are so helpful to have! Not only that, but a section with snacks is a dream come true for glamping wedding guests. Grab some cool wooden crates and fill them with individual bags of chips, granola bars, bananas, apples and chocolate bars and your friends and family will think they’re in paradise!
3. TaZa Unbreakable Wine Glasses
We can’t tell you how many times the weather has played tricks on us while setting up for an outdoor wedding. When that desert wind picks up right before dusk and your wine glass blows off the table and shatters, you just want to pull your hair out!
Instead of getting wasteful (and not-so-cute) plastic disposable cups, we recommend opting for some cool reusable stemless wine glasses like the ones from Taza. Not only are these shatterproof, but you can have them engraved with your wedding logo or a cute quote and give them to guests as a wedding favor (double purpose!). We once had a client provide funny emoji stickers to put on their glasses so that each guest could recognize their wineglasses without having to write their names on it.
4. A team of experienced wedding professionals.
We understand being on a budget but we also know what happens when you don’t hire the right team for your wedding. I know it’s tempting to ask your friends and family to help you plan and coordinate your day for free but do them a favor and just let them enjoy this festive weekend with you (stress-free and responsibility-free). When you’re looking to have a glamping wedding in the wilderness, you want to find vendors who have experience not only with outdoor venues but who know how to get creative with limited resources. What do you do when you run out of ice in the middle of the desert? Who is in charge of setting out the morning pastries or starting the coffee after a long night of partying? Who’s the point person when all your vendors arrive on load-in day? The answer: your glamping wedding planner. You want to make sure your wedding vendors know what to expect when it comes to doing an outdoor wedding and who are also willing to go above and beyond because you just never know what might happen out in the middle of the desert! And helping you put together that glamping wedding dream team who will make your glamping style wedding everything you hoped for and more is what Cause We Can Events is all about.
5. Free time.
The best part about having a glamping wedding is that your guests get to spend a few days in some of the most spectacular places. Maybe your wedding is in the desert or perhaps it’s in the mountains but wherever it is, your guests want to explore. You may have a vision of having bands play, food trucks stop by and maybe even doing some yoga at the venue but if you’re going to be there for a few days, let your guests wander. Have some free time in your wedding schedule to let everyone create their own spontaneous memories by going on a bike ride around the town, hiking through some local trails or maybe even skydiving! This is going to be a wedding your friends and family talk about for the rest of their lives.
So there you have it – my 5 must-haves for your glamping wedding. Some may be a little more unconventional but, trust me, these come from experience and every time I book a new client, I make sure to share these with them. Happy Glamping!
